ISAAC STEPHAN (1) wasn't far off maiden success before a ten weeks break, finishing the prep with a minor placing at Vaal. Expect he has come on over the break. Has improved at each run and looks well placed here fresh with leading rider going aboard. KWAITO (10) ran well on debut last start to finish third over 1000m at this track in a tougher race. Will benefit from that experience so he should pay to follow. BERRY LANCER (8) is a four-start maiden who is knocking on the door, the latest effort a solid third at Turffontein Inside over 1200m. Likely improver with strong prospects. ECHOES OF WAR (2) was out of the money when resuming from a spell last start over 1200m at Vaal, beaten 5 lengths. Fitter this time will prove harder to beat.
