El Ultimo has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. AVORIAZ (4) is a very tough staying mare who only has a query on a very testing heavy track. She has a wide gate against her in this, but with Corey Campbell riding so well, she is still the one to beat for us in this very even field. SAINT BRIGID (5) will be having her third start in the South Island, and she has no problem with a heavy track. The pole position will suit, and she is ready to put her best hoof forward over a middle distance for the first time this prep. Each way value. ROCA MILE (3) capped off some solid form with an overdue win on the poly track at Riccarton 18 days ago. He only carries an extra 2kg and is capable of repeating the dose. LOVELOCK (2) has raced his way back into good form over this trip, and battled away gamely to finish fourth after setting the pace at Wingatui a fortnight ago. Stick with him for all combos.
