SAINT EUSTACE (7) profiles beautifully for this. Was given some steeplechase grounding last prep and the three runs this time in have all been over the bigger obstacles and he's improved at each run. Beat home all bar Golden Garden last time out, and he looks the horse to beat in the Open Steeplechase later in the day, so it looks the right form. MR LINCOLN (5) will give him a race, though. He had his first steeplechase start in the Aus Chase last start and although beaten 16+ lengths, he beat home a few more experienced fencers. TEEWATERS (9) is yet to win over the jumps but has placed five times and will be much fitter for the first-up run and might be better suited to the fences. SLOMO (8) is also only early in the prep and he's had a steeplechase trial since a couple of hurdle runs to start the campaign. LAST CARD LOUIE (3) recent changed stables and while he hasn't won a race yet, the slower tempo of steeplechasing might suit. SUGGESTED PLAY: Saint Eustace to win.
