Leonard and Valstar look to take it up. TAIHORO (1) has been steadily edging towards an overdue maiden win and was runner-up as the favourite at Wingatui a fortnight ago. The extra 100m from a slightly better draw will help him, and he can go one better. CRACKBONES (2) has fewer convictions than most in this, and he was close up in third place behind the top pick in the same race last start. He is rock-hard fit and capable of winning a race at short notice. LEONARD (3) has been freshened since a midfield finish just over 6 weeks ago at Riccarton. He has his best gate in a while, and he is well worth each-way consideration. CHATAYA (5) makes her South Island debut for a new trainer, and even though this race will be well short of her best distance, she is fresh and a big run is expected. MANIFEST (9) battled on debut at Wingatui just over 3 weeks ago, and with an extra 200m on offer here, she is in the right stable to improve quickly. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Leonard each way.
