Ninjitzou and Cheerful Cat possess good early speed and will set a genuine tempo.
LAUNCHER (2) has really hit his straps of late. Settled near the speed then put away his rivals comfortably in a Class 1 over this distance at the Gold Coast last start. Failed on a heavy two back which is concerning, but he is worth one more chance on this sort of ground. TAP HIGH (5) scored here at this trip two back in a race that has produced four subsequent winners. Dropped right away when extended to 2020m at Doomben last time. Handles the going and is in the right race to return to form. GOLDEN MIKKI (4) worked home well but found a couple better over 1400m here recently. Yet to race beyond 1700m which is a question mark. Picked up nicely two back on a heavy deck so expect him to handle these conditions. The lightly raced PECCAVI (10) has disappointed since a first-up maiden win at Hawkesbury three back. Waller brings her north - a change of scenery might help. Last start Ipswich winner NOIRE EMPEROR (1) has never faced a heavy track but cannot be ruled out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Launcher and Tap High.
