Plenty of unraced runners engaged which muddies the map a little. It is fair to assume a solid tempo. PORTLAND MISS (9) burst through late to score at a big quote on debut at Hawkesbury, and the eye-catching way she attacked the line suggests there’s plenty more to come. The rise to 1200m looks ideal. GLOBAL GOAL (5) is a Pinatubo filly on debut for the Sargent yard who has come along nicely at the trials and can fire an immediate shot. MISS VERONA (7) is a Castelvecchio filly on debut for the Hayes boys, fitter for two jump outs and gets Berry. Profiles to run well. FRIENDLY FIRE (2) is another debutant who has trialled up soundly and is worth consideration. ISN’T SHE AUTUMN (6) did a good job to keep them at bay on debut at Canberra and will give them something to catch again, though stretching to 1200m may leave her a touch vulnerable late. SUGGESTED PLAY: Portland Miss to win.
