Curtsy to set a strong early tempo joined by Port Chalmer pushing on from an outside draw. PORT CHALMER (1) has been thereabouts this prep, most recently finishing fifth, beaten 3 lengths, over 2060m at Whanganui 11 days ago. He likes to race on the pace, and in a field that lacks any real depth, he has a great chance to break through. OCEAN MELODY (10) stuck on gamely to finish third, just under a length from the winner in the same race as the top pick. She has hit her straps recently and can take this out. DARREN MICHIE (3) rolled forward at Otaki last time out and battled away for fifth. He has needed time to mature, and a repeat effort here will take him close to a top 3 finish. Stick with him. JUSTIFY THAT (8) is a long-time maiden who placed at this track prior to a spell, and she has since trialled nicely this year. She has been placed twice in 4 starts here, and can only continue to improve. Include her in all top 4 combos. GREAT ADVENTURE (2) has been racing over the shorter trips this year, and will relish getting out to a middle distance here. Each way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Port Chalmer to be hard to beat in a very modest field.
