Pace only fair with What A Gent rolling to the lead ahead of Incantress and Penalties. PENALTIES (2) was beaten by an in-form stablemate last start to go with another runner-up result the start prior. Drawn well at a similar trip and won't find a better point and shoot opportunity. PREFER DIAMONDS (8) went to the paddock in peak form and gets in light after the claim. Drawn a jump and run alley with upside aplenty this time in. Finds right race to kick off the campaign. DAMASCUS CALLING (1) has handy provincial results from his past two starts and this looks a touch easier than those. Proven at this trip and senior rider sticks solid. The testing material. INCANTRESS (6) has gone top three from as many starts coming into this but is overdue a maiden result. This suits. WHAT A GENT (4) has run his best races to date in country grade but first-up effort was genuine enough. Still in the frame for this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Penalties win.
