Pace a scorcher, headed by Rex, Tampa and Zee Heights, closely followed by Teams and The Republican. THE REPUBLICAN (1) went a ripper fresh up over 1400m at Pukekohe when finishing runner-up there 2 weeks ago. The extra 200m will suit him, and the key to success will be a heavy track. On top. SWEYSMART (2) worked to find the lead at Waverley 4 weeks ago, and he stuck on bravely for second, being his best effort yet. He is facing an even field, and he can go one better. TEAMS (9) set the pace and gave a good sight when finishing fourth at Pukekohe a fortnight ago. He has more upside than most in this, and he is bred to relish the wet ground. Each-way claims from a superior gate. JACHIMO (10) has hit the line in each of his runs to date, and he is bred to excel over more ground than 1600m. He has been given a 7-week freshen up, but he will be running on again, and he has top 4 claims in a modest field. SO BE IT (11) was last seen when finishing fourth over 2100m at Pukekohe nearly 5 weeks ago. Dropping back in trip is no problem, so include her in all top 4 combos.
