Hot pace certain with Opaea Joe, Perfect Dividends and Catoca keen to take up the running. BRAZEN AFFAIR (1) missed a cheque here for the first time in 8 starts when running on too late after missing the kick over 970m 2 weeks ago. Opie Bosson replaces an apprentice, and with a better beginning from a superior gate, she can definitely make amends. Follow your money. KARYON (6) has been making progress this prep, and she just missed by a short-head here a fortnight ago in the same race as the top pick. She is in a good space, and deserves a winning turn. CATOCA (7) showed pace to lead in the same race when resuming, and she only peaked late that day. She cops a tougher gate this time, but she strips fitter, and can take them all the way. LADY IRIS (2) has raced will this year in far tougher fields than this. She drops in grade, and a handy 3kg claim will help offset the weight rise. Hard to beat. OPAEA JOE (5) was an upset winner at Tauranga 5 days ago over 1200m, and he may have the speed to hold his spot early on from the pole position here. Stick with him. SUGGESTED PLAY: Brazen Affair can make amends for a last start miss.
