GOING: S(5)

TRACKSIDE.CO.NZ 1100m

Track: SOFT 5     True

Keen tempo with Biding My Time and Hot Card prominent. KING'S ENGLISH (2) resumed with a run that is better than it reads on paper when finishing ninth in the G3 Breeders' Stakes at Te Rapa 3 weeks ago. Dropping back 100m should not be a concern, and if he can hold his spot in the early rush from the pole position, then he goes on top for us. ZIVOU (1) dropped back in class, and finished runner-up here nearly 3 weeks ago, and he faces a similar field here. He prefers the cut in the ground, and with the right run, he can go one better here. BULGARI (3) finished sixth fresh up in the same G3 field as the top pick, and his racing this season has mostly been in group company, where he has more than held his own. He strips fitter, and he would not be a shock winner. RUBY RUSH (5) has been freshened since her last start win at Te Aroha on a heavy track 7 weeks ago. She has a good draw, and with a return to a sprint trip, she can run another big race. ARWEN (7) has shown plenty of talent in both of her starts to date. Don't risk her. SUGGESTED PLAY: King's English can win this.

Form hard to fault. Comes here off a 49-day let-up. Last start tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 1.5 len at Te Aroha March 28 over 1400m on a heavy track defeating Happy Youmzain with 54kg at $4.50. The run before that raced on the pace when 2nd of 12 at Tauranga on March 14 over 1400m, in the wet; 0.5 len behind Unwritten carrying 56.5kg at $11.30. Form good for this and rates as a major player.
