GOING: S(5)

The Agency, Katrina Garwood & Ian McCallum $150,000 Gold Sovereign Stakes 20th Feb Class 1 Hcp 1400m

Track: Soft 5   Clouds (Max: 20)   Rail: +5m Entire. (Pent: 4.69)

Moderate tempo with Diesel's Sunshine leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. BENEFICIARY (1) trialled well and led and demolished the Maidens here by 5L on debut over this trip. He came back 49 days later and had no luck placing second when backed off the map. Will present fitter again and the promising gelding should have them covered. THEM'S THE BREAKS (7) resumed over 1200 at the track and ran on okay after settling last. Was expected to need it regardless and will be sharper with that under the belt. Has a handy 3kg claim and she won her only start this track/distance. THICKSKINNED (2) delivered his Maiden in style on the synthetic. This is a step-up but he maps well and has plenty of scope for improvement. BUNKER JAKO (3) has an awkward gate but gets in well with the 3kg claim. He has pieces of form that would see him in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Beneficiary to win.
