Plenty of pace from the outset with Contest and Watson leading the charge. CANTERBURY FLIGHT (6) produced a solid effort last time out when runner-up by a short-head over 1600m at this track after challenging on the bend. She will get few better chances than this to break through, and from the pole position, she can win this. SAILOR SAM (4) has been edging toward some worthwhile form, improving to finish fourth over 1600m here last start in his first run over a mile. He gets through a wet track and can figure in the top 3 this time. WATSON (3) was disappointing at Ascot Park last time when heavily backed, and well beaten over 1600m, but his prior fifth at this track reads much better. He is worth another chance. CONTEST (9) has had market support at recent outings but hasn’t been able to deliver, most recently finishing sixth over 1600m at Wingatui nearly 7 weeks ago. He has a good draw, and he can make amends in this modest field. SHE'S SINATRA (7) did not like setting the pace last start after producing a big run fresh up for third at Kurow. Go again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Canterbury Flight should win.
