Mister Manihi has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. VORTISTAR (9) has had three starts for the Trinder yard and missed a nose the latest this track/trip as a $3.0 favourite. He positions forward and has more to offer. The one to beat. MONCLERE (7) improved sharply missing a whisker at Hobart before settling too far back there following. Draws inside again and is likely to settle close. A chance if he does. MERLIN BEACH (5) brings strong mile form to resumption. He was narrowly beaten over 1150m on the synthetic first up last preparation and owns a Longford trial win over this distance. Winning claims if presented on song. CALLED THROUGH (1) spiked his numbers beaten a nose this track and trip. It was a mighty effort after settling rearward in a 13-horse field and no surprise if he's hitting the line well again.
