A solid tempo anticipated with Curved Glory and Open Country ahead of Ruby Rush and Hasstorock. SAVVY DONNA (12) settled back off a wide gate and ran on strongly at Matamata last start, finishing second. She should be seasoned enough now to cope with the 6-day backup. She can race a touch closer to the pace this time from the pole position, and she can go one better. Follow your money.
TO THE MAX (4) was a beaten favourite at Te Rapa 3 weeks ago when having no luck at all in the run home. He has the ability to make immediate amends. Stick with him. HASSTOROCK (11) has finished third in all 3 starts this prep, including her last couple of runs on this course. A wet track is no trouble, and another honest run is on the cards. SHAMELESS STAR (6) followed up a gutsy win at Otaki 2 starts back with an even more impressive win at Whanganui 3 weeks ago. She tries 1600m for the first time, but she can still make it a hat-trick of wins. ARWEN (7) is a very progressive filly with 2 wins from just 4 starts. The step up to 1600m is ideal, and she will be hard to beat again. SUGGESTED PLAY: Savvy Donna can win, but this field is rather handy.
