Phantom's Chase is likely to roll to the lead and set a decent tempo. WHAT A CROSS (9) last appeared on April 11 when a good fifth over 2535m at Morphettville, beaten 2.5 lengths. Strong chance to kick the campaign off on the right note in a race that looks a shade easier than most races he contested last prep. ADJUDICATE (1) is a consistent type who has raced outside BM56 grade since the nice win four back, so will appreciate the drop back in grade. TRIORA (13) showed good early dash and raced on the speed last start before fading to finish 4 lengths back in fourth over 2000m at Warrnambool. Can figure in the finish. PARIS AFFAIR (14) was quite unlucky two back at Echuca and then ran well again last time, beaten only 1-3/4 lengths. Peak fitness now and the low draw could be a big plus. EPOCH (6) was comfortably accounted for when fourth last time out over 2238m at Werribee, beaten 4.5 lengths. That followed a win at Stawell at the previous outing. Nicely placed to feature in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: What A Cross to win.
