Just a moderate tempo given the absence of pacy gallopers. BETTY SPAGHETTI (1) found the company more to her liking when finding the right race at Wingatui last start, scoring impressively there by nearly 2 lengths over this trip. She has a good record on this course, and with her confidence returned, she can repeat the dose. ROYAL VALOUR (5) has been thereabouts over longer trips recently, and his 7 weeks between runs would have done him no harm. He maps to settle just off the pace, and he would not be a shock winner here. LOMBARDI (2) will be resuming from over a year off the scene, and he was runner-up at a recent Ashburton trial. He has shown real talent in the past, and his fresh-up record is strong. Let the market be the best guide. HE'S TUNZA GRUNT (6) just peaked on his run late at Oamaru 6 days ago, and he will be spot on for this with the quick turnaround. Each way value. LORD DARCI (4) has been out of form this prep and will be dropping back from Stakes company for this. He is worth another chance. Include in all top 4 combos.
