Expecting Mister Fairbanks to find the lead but there will be plenty of pressure over the sprint trip. HOT ONE (3) resumed improved with a narrow defeat at Kilmore and then delivered a Maiden win at Corowa, backed off the map. She jumps from an inside barrier and will stalk the lead. Fitter and is capable of taking the next step. ALPINOVA (6) is racing well and didn't have the best of it at Terang last time. Presents on a 7-day return and will hit the line hard over the longer sprint. TIPSY TORONADO (7) is better than the form line suggests and has been freshened. Has been kept up to the mark with a Caulfield jumpout and maps to get every chance back in grade. SMOKE 'N' OAKUM (2) resumes and has placed 2/3 fresh. He has a handy 3kg claim and has prepared with two wins at the jumpouts. His best would have him in the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Hot One.
