Expecting a strong pace headed by Cricket, Justadude and Longford Lass. CRICKET (13) made an encouraging debut when running on late for sixth here on debut nearly 3 weeks ago. She cops a wide gate this time, but will relish the extra 200m on offer, and she is good enough to take this out. COSTANZA (1) was put aside after producing a couple of solid runs last winter. He will be a lot stronger this season and will be ready to rumble fresh up after having a couple of quiet trials to get ready. Check the market moves. FURIOSA (8) won a couple of trials prior to finishing third as the favourite fresh up at Waipukurau, and then finished less than a length from the winner in fourth place at Trentham nearly 2 weeks ago. Stick with her, despite the wide gate. JOHN DOE (2) was third fresh up, and then just battled at his next start, which probably came too soon for him. He has had 5 weeks to get over that run, and with the blinkers off, he is worth another chance. OCEAN MELODY (11) was third in a recent trial, and can figure in the top 4 at odds fresh up. SUGGESTED PLAY: Costanza each-way.
