With little in the way of early speed Mahmoa may well find the front. MAHMOA (5) is set to peak at his fourth run back and has the speed to get across from the outside gate. Three weeks between runs when he knocked up late for a tough fourth over 1550m at Murwillumbah a week ago. Senior rider goes on and will take catching. HERALD ANGEL (6) ran on late at her first run back with a plugging sixth over 1200m at Ipswich. Key jockey change and anywhere near her best can win this. VIRGINIA BREEZES (9) made rapid improvement at her second race start when a solid on-pace second over 1212m at Coffs Harbour. Progressive type with strong claims. ANDROS (1) model of consistency due for a change of luck. Kept finding through the line when a handy third over 1720m at Grafton. No excuses from the draw today and stays in the calculations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mahmoa will take catching.
