WAYNE THE PAIN (5) is close to a win after a string of placings, the latest over 1720m at Narrogin, where he settled back and was 5-wide on the turn. Tumbles in weight this level with a 2kg claim atop, and he will hit the line hard. BECALOTTI (3) missed a whisker at Albany over 1500m in a blanket finish, spiking his figures. That stack right up, and he's a third up winner with genuine claims. CORN COB (1) is a much better chance than the form line suggests. Has raced his last three at Ascot in much stronger and was only beaten 3L over 1400m last time. Maps for the run of the race and gets his chance. ABBOU (6) has threatened his last two and will lead or box-seat from the inside barrier. Deserves plenty of consideration.
