Not a great deal of speed on paper so it may be left to one of the debutants to take it up. FAIR GAME (7) needed the experience when finishing midfield on debut as the favourite, and he then caught the eye with a big late run for fourth on his home track of Otaki 15 days ago. He stays at the same trip, but is peaking at the right time, and he is the one to beat for us. DERRICK (1) has taken his time to put it all together, and he looked close to a win when finishing on late for second at Otaki last time out in the same race as the top pick. He has a slightly better gate here, and he can go one better. OKLAHOMA (19) has put in some fairly decent efforts this year, and in this field, that is enough to put her in the mix. STREET APPEAL (9) was placed twice last prep, and a short break has done her no harm, winning a recent trial. Each way. KINTARO (3) needed his first run back from a spell, and he can improve quickly in this field. SUGGESTED PLAY: Fair Game can win this.
