Fast tempo assured with Royal Aussie, Gladatorian and Montien going toe-to-toe. ROYAL AUSSIE (3) stayed on well at the finish when fifth last time. He won this race last year and with Andrew Fortune in the saddle, he can defend his title. MONTIEN (8) tried hard when third last time. He has finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this distance. He is likely to race from just off the speed and should produce an encouraging return to the races. THE REAL PRINCE (11) was an easy winner last time. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners. GREAT PLAINS (4) resumed from a spell and was in the money last start when third at Kenilworth over 1400m. Fitter and has each-way claims.
