Expecting Pray For Mir to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. HONG LOK GOLF (5) has won his last 2 starts by a narrow margin but has shown a lot of grit in doing so. He is trying a mile for the first time, but is bred not to have a problem seeing out that trip. He is venturing into new territory as far as a rise in class goes, but drops 5kg and the hat-trick beckons. STEPS AHEAD (4) likes to race on the pace and showed some good determination when fighting on gamely to finish runner-up by a nose here 2 weeks ago over 1800m. He drops back to a mile and should be in this for a long way. MICKLEY (3) has been hard to catch lately, but he is better than that and is having his first run in 6 weeks. He has had a couple of tune-up trials, and this time he has Zac Purton in the saddle, which can make all the difference. Don't risk him. ENCOUNTERED (1) has been disappointing for some time and has been back to the trials since his last start 8 weeks ago. He is capable on his day, so include in all combinations to be safe.
