SCOTTISH LAIRD (5) can be hard to catch but is racing more consistently this year and scored a comfortable win in this grade last week over 1400m. The extra furlong won't be a problem, and he also has a superior gate this time. Stick with him on top. RYEWOOD (1) finished fifth fresh up behind the top pick and usually improves with racing. She might need this run as well, but should finish a lot closer. HOT PUDDIN (7) won his penultimate start at Esperance and looked half-a-run short here nearly 3 weeks ago. He will be sharper for this and can bounce straight back into the money. MOUNTAIN ASH (2) ran on late to finish sixth here over 1300m and will appreciate getting back to over a mile, which is his pet trip. He is worth another chance in a field like this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Scottish Laird to win.
