It's likely to be tactical given scant early speed. DENIAL (5) wasn't issued any favours at the barrier draw, but looks to have a class edge over his rivals as a four-length fifth to Stakes performer Tropicus last preparation suggests. The first-up run was adequate for a race of this quality and the extra 100m shouldn't be an issue. AUGUST BONUS (4) had a habit of running fourth last campaign but most of those races appeared to have a little more depth than this. QUEEN CALANTHE (8), as a 16-start maiden, has had her fair share of chances but has placed on six occasions and will be in the firing line if she runs up to her best. VORES (9) did nothing on debut but has trialled up well for the new stable. BLACK CHERRY (13) hasn't featured in two runs back but will find this more to her liking. SUGGESTED PLAY: Denial to win.
