Girls Weekend and Mctominay can be prominent. A good contest. The former Victorian TROOPER (9) had been threatening and finally broke through, winning easily this course/trip by 2.5 lengths. Tougher task this time but his numbers stack up and positioning forward he looks capable of taking the next step. VERY SIRIUS (10) had trialled well and didn't enjoy a wet track on debut before racing forward winning a Mudgee Maiden comfortably. Maps well today and sits at the bottom of the handicap. Tougher but she has plenty of scope for improvement. GIRLS WEEKEND (6) was outgraded at Newcastle over shorter but her form prior over this distance reads well. Will lead or box-set from a low barrier and has winning claims. XSPIRITOUS (5) ran her best race winning a 66 at Wagga from the pace. Has a handy 2kg claim and fitter she can make the finish. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Trooper.
