GOING: S(6)

Core Protective Group Handicap 1000m

Track: SOFT 6   Rain (Max: 15)   Rail: True Entire Circuit. (Pent: 5.61)

Lake Gillear is the probable leader in the small field. VIASAIN (3) is racing consistently and finds a nice race here. He's been kept fresh for this having chased home subsequent stakes winner Regeneration at Caulfield Heath when last seen. The second placing prior to a smart one in Trapper John also reads very well and he looks the one to beat off that sort of form. WOLF TWENTY ONE (2) resumes. He mixed his form last time in but put up a couple of good performances, respecting while fresh. FIRERATED (5) also resumes, for his second campaign having shown ability in three runs last time in. He was well backed in a Class 1 before a break and has plenty of upside. CORE CONCEPT (1) was okay here fresh over 955m. This looks a touch easier and he can get a bit more time to find his feet here. AFFIRMATIVE LAD (8) next best. SUGGESTED PLAY: Viasain to win.
