Leitrim Lad and Awhina look to bowl along in front. PROBOY (3) can get himself into a fizz in the barriers, but he was still good enough to overcome that and win at this level by a neck at Wanganui nearly a month ago. He cops more weight, but in the same class, he has to be hard to beat again. ALTARI (4) ran home strongly for third in a tougher grade at Matamata a month ago, and he has Opie Bosson back in the saddle this time. He likes some cut in the ground, and with a drop in class, he can take this out. CHARLBURY (9) needed his fresh run at Te Aroha just over 2 weeks ago after winning a trial before that. If she can settle a touch closer this time, then she is more than capable of taking this out. GIPPSY GOD (5) was a well-deserved winner at Ellerslie nearly 2 weeks ago, and he did it easily enough to suggest that he can repeat the dose. PERFECTMANZ (7) put away a soft field at Te Aroha nearly 3 weeks ago, and he won't lack fitness. With the right run, he is always a top 4 chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Charlbury each-way.
