GOING: H(8)

HOPS HOLIDAY AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS R60 HWT 2100m

Track: HEAVY 8     Out 4m

Moderate tempo expected with Pile Driver likely to find the front over Quill and Tutin Cans. CLEW BAY (3) looks to be very well placed in this field, and even though she was a tad disappointing in this company at Pukekohe last time out when finishing fourth as the favourite, this field looks to be even weaker, so follow your money and put her on top. PILE DRIVER (7) will be peaking third up, and the quick 7-day backup should not be a problem. He is drawn to take up the lead if he chooses, and he did win a Foxton trial prior to his last start sixth at Waverley. Stick with him. AUTUMN BEAUTY (1) was badly in need of a run fresh over 1600m at Whanganui 11 days ago, but that track was too firm for him that day, and he is expected to be far more competitive on a wet track. Include in all combinations. CRY BABY (4) has been getting fitter with each run, and she is crying out for a heavy track. Each-way value. ORANGE RIVER (6) is like many in here that are finding it hard to win another race. Her last couple of starts have been better, and she has top 4 claims in this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Clew Bay should win, and Cry Baby for odds.
