JAMES AND ANNIE SARTEN MEMORIAL 1400m Track: SOFT 5 True |

Good tempo with several going forward, primarily Too Darn Sweet, Faultless and He Who Dares. MAGIC CARPET (3) caused an upset when winning the Hawke's Bay Guineas at Te Rapa 5 weeks ago, getting in the final strides to score by nearly a length. He has trialled in the clockwise direction, and can repeat the dose, just don't expect more fancy money. HE WHO DARES (2) is a very progressive colt who was runner-up by a head at Ellerslie in a strong version of the Sir Colin Meads Trophy at Listed level 8 weeks ago. Opie Bosson steps into the irons for the first time, and the pair will be hard to hold out. KYGO STAR (8) was narrowly beaten at Taupo on debut and then lifted late to score by a nose at Avondale last time out on a very heavy track. This race is a big step up in class, but he does have the pole position and has the scope to go on with the job. QUANDO (4) and SWISS PRINCE (6) are both capable of figuring in the finish at odds. SUGGESTED PLAY: He Who Dares each way.
