A pedestrian gallop without a recognised on-pacer engaged. Competitive. Moody-Coleman-trained GATES (3) peaks and improved again beaten 1L when stepping up to this distance at Pakenham. He still has more to give and Nolen stays aboard. He can go one better. TEXAS TEA (4) is in the premier stable and gets his chance in this lineup. Hasn't has the best of it this preparation but at the back of his previous last campaign went close in a Flemington 70 over 1800m. Has a handy gate and a key jockey switch to Ben Allen. ARISTONOUS (2) is also in good hands and is coming along nicely. Needed the first-up outing at Sandown-Hillside and then improved to score comfortably over 1700m at Warrnambool. Has a small claim and fitter he can feature. GARNACHO (6) should enjoy the step up in trip and has raced well at Stakes level. Don't dismiss. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Gates.
