GOING: H(10)

PHIL BEVIN SPRAYING HANDICAP 1600m

Track: HEAVY 10     True

Expecting Sir Sterling to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. MASTER MARKO (2) may not win often, but his recent form has been in far tougher fields than what he meets here. His last start fifth in the Spring Classic at Riccarton 8 days ago over 2000m is terrific form for this, and he can break his win drought here. SIR STERLING (3) has resumed a much stronger gelding this season, and was beaten only by a neck as the favourite at Wingatui last time out when chasing a hat-trick of wins. He races close to the pace and will be right in the finish again. CALL ME AL (7) seems to be at his best over a mile for now, and all 3 career wins have been over this trip. He is nicely placed at the weights, and if he gets plenty of room to wind up, then he can figure in the top 3 again. A MANDARIN (6) resumes from a spell and if she doesn't need the run, she can run top 4. SUGGESTED PLAY: Master Marko can get the job done here.
