Tricky, given the lack of early speed. TAKEOVER LAD (4) stands out in a very weak maiden. Battled on evenly to be beaten 3.2 lengths in heavy ground at the Beaumont track last start. He has filled the placings as often as the rest of the runners combined. Should be breaking through. THIEF OF JOY (8) ran a better race last start when lining up for the second time, finishing midfield over 1300m at Orange. Open to further progress. INSTEAD (7) has been safely held in both runs but draws a better gate this time so might sneak into the frame. EAGLESCLIFFE (2) didn't run a strong mile last start and can improve coming back in trip. SUGGESTED PLAY: Takeover Lad to win.
