Late December, Fort Red and Carriacou to battle for the lead at a strong tempo. HONOR OF KINGS (7) is better than his last start over 1400m at Scottsville would suggest. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He won his only attempt over this course and distance. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he should be hard to peg back. CARRIACOU (3) returns from a spell which may have done him the world of good. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this course and distance. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if fit, he should pose a threat. WINTER PEARL (8) showed good improvement in his last start over this course and distance under 4kgs claiming apprentice Sifisokuhle Bungane. If confirming that effort, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. LATE DECEMBER (2) turned in a solid run to score by one length at today's course and distance when resuming from a spell last start. No reason why he can't go back-to-back.
