KARPUZ PELUS (2) is struggling to break through but hasn't been far away, the latest effort a fourth beaten 1.75 lengths over 1200m at Fukushima. Drawn to enjoy a nice run just off the lead. Best form puts her right in this. KARANDASH (7) ran below expectations when fresh from a spell at this track over 1200m last time, finishing fifth and beaten 5 lengths after being in the firing line on the bend. Well placed and there is no reason she cannot find winning ways. QUEEN'S SPICA (3) turned in a decent effort last start to finish third over 1200m at this track. Likely improver with strong prospects. SMASH OUT (1) has not appeared since he finished 18th over 1400m at Chukyo on March 22. Chance while fresh.
