Solid tempo with Beethoven to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. TONY TESORO (8) finished second behind Biden Tesoro at this track over this distance at his latest outing. Excellent record here having never missed the placings in four starts, including three wins and one placing. Must be respected. SHONAN DOUGLAS (5) improved sharply on his fourth two starts back at this track with a win over 1300m at this track two weeks ago, getting home by 1.5 lengths after being prominent at the corner. Likely to be there at the finish again. RHEIN ANGELA (10) resumes in a similar race to her last run six months ago when fifth, beaten 5 lengths. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race. BEETHOVEN (9) did a great job to score by 2.5 lengths over this course and distance last start to maintain his good form of late. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot repeat the dose.
