It's likely to be tactical given scant early speed. CUBAN DAWN (1) has an awkward gate but is an improved galloper presenting off a 1.6L defeat at Geelong over 1400m. The mile will suit and stripping fitter he should give this a shake. Goes on top of CONTACTED (9) who surprised missing a whisker at Bendigo. Has an awkward gate but she's well seasoned and can fight out the finis on the back of that good latest effort. BLACK CHERRY (8) has a key gear switch and the effort two back at Wangaratta would have her around the mark. Respect that while GRUNNETTAN (4) may be next best coming back in trip off a placing here. Wouldn't have to find loads off that. SUGGESTED PLAY: Cuban Dawn appeals most.
