Not a great deal of pressure likely in the small field, with Gavin a potential leader. HERALD ANGEL (2) is from the top local stable with a claim for boom apprentice and can only be better for a solid debut effort at Grafton. Wouldn't need to have improved a lot to be in the finish of this. GAVING (3) hasn't raced since February when beaten favourite in two of four starts in the preparation. Easy trial since and drawn well so a good chance if the trip isn't too sharp. BARRON (7) has had plenty of chances to break through but could notch another minor placing in a race that has fallen away a little. LADY ALABAMA (6) could be an improver and a big watch on MAHUIKA MAROI (4) on debut. SUGGESTED PLAY: Herald Angel to win.
