Strong tempo likely with several going forward, headed by Lil Orlov and Baganov. The betting will be key with the McEvoy-trained SUNLIT SERENADE (4), who resumes off a Group 2 at Mooney Valley. Before that, she had been beaten just 2L over this trip at Sandown-Hillside first-up, and then won her Maiden comfortably at Seymour, when heavily bet. Maps for a soft run and Coffey sticks off a strong Flemington jumpout. FARAKTA (5) stalked the speed and won her Maiden comfortably over 1200m at Geelong. She ran a positive number and will have come on from that. Maps for a soft run, and Nolen is engaged today. A serious player. SILVER TOP RIDGE (8) disappointed at Yarra Valley (vet cleared). Her form prior stacks right up, including a 1.3L defeat here over 12oom at 66 level. Has been kept on the fresh side and deserves another chance. LIL ORLOV (2) led over 1200m at Cranbourne first-up, and the fitness gave out late. Had presented off two trial wins and was a big 1400m Maiden winner at Wangaratta last time he raced. Uses the low gate and has to be considered. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sunlit Serenade, if the betting suggests stable confidence.
