Strong tempo assured with Our Clarry, Charm Manhattan and Shawshank rolling to the front. FIRST DANCE (8) was full of herself at Riccarton when making her South Island debut from the powerful Terri Rae stable, and she ran accordingly, needing the run. She gets a big swing in her draw this time, and she will also drop 3.5kg. With less time between runs in a weaker field, she is the one to beat. BOSS 'N' HIGHHEELS (10) is a stablemate of the top pick who will be on a 5-day backup after finishing fourth at Riccarton. She has a superior gate this time, and she can figure in the top 3. HOORAY FOR HARRY (5) has needed both of his starts since resuming from a spell, and he has no trouble with a wet track. His tricky gate may be an advantage if the track is heavy, and he is ready to put his best hoof forward in this. ELUSIVE IMPACT (2) can be hard to catch at times, but he will be a lot stronger this year. He comes to hand quickly, and he can't be taken lightly fresh. Check the market. SAKO (4) has not had much luck since relocating to the South Island. Don't risk him. SUGGESTED PLAY: First Dance is the one to beat, and also include Sako.
