Moonlighting and Ripicola will press forward in a keen battle for the lead. DOROTHEA (9) is a recent addition to the David Walsh stable, and she makes her South Island debut after last being seen at Hawera just over 3 weeks ago, where she finished a fair fifth. This is easier, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, she is the one to beat. LADY MELL (2) has tried hard in her last couple of starts off a pair of wide gates at Wingatui, and she has top 3 claims from a superior gate this time. Stick with her. EMERGING MISS (10) will be peaking third up from a spell, and her first 2 starts have not been too bad for a race like this. Include in all top 4 combos. VOGUISH (11) was beaten by less than 2 lengths when finishing fourth at Hawera nearly 7 weeks ago. She makes her South Island debut for the leading Pitman stable, and despite copping a wide gate, she is still worth including in all top 4 combos. MOONLIGHTING (7) battled on well for sixth fresh, and she will improve further with racing. Include in all top 4 combinations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Dorothea to win.
