Swatow to take charge ahead of Astra Star at a good tempo. ASTRA STAR (2) was on pace winning this level at Mackay, and he brought strong Rockhampton form to that. Draws to advantage and he can go on with the job. SCRUB CHAIN (1) missed a whisker in that contest and beat the above home at Rockhampton prior. He has to manage an awkward gate today but will threaten with average luck. Cormack is off Astra Star to stick with the promising SWATOW (7), who seeks the hat-trick off a big Open 3 win here. He may control the race and get every opportunity to find the extra required. ASK ME MATE (5) is racing well and missed a nose at Rockhampton 11 days ago over 1200m. Steps back up to the mile and that shouldn't disadvantage. OBLIGATED (4) is going better than the form line suggests and he's in the mix as well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sticking with Astra Star.
