Abundant pace from Rough Cause, Scrumptious and Portofino vying for the lead with Voodoo Lass on their backs. SMEXY (3) returned to form last start, coming from last on the corner to be beaten just over a length over this distance at Ipswich. Can race a lot closer to the pace here and now that the confidence is back she will be hard to stop in a race like this. The speedy PORTOFINO (9) made it three wins from four appearances this prep when he led all the way for a courageous victory over 1500m at Rosehill a fortnight ago. Should scoot along under just 53kgs and prove very tough to reel in. Another flyer is ROUGH CAUSE (16) who faced the starter for just the second time recently and did well to stick on for second over this course and distance. Tackles a better race this time but a 7.5 kg plunge in the weights will help. CALL DA VINCI (2) just missed in a three-way thriller over today's journey at Ipswich three weeks ago. A terrible gate sours his chances. NAVY PILOT (1) was a little underwhelming at Ipswich last time but his best form reads very well in this company. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Smexy.
