Solid tempo set by My Maebelline Girl and Opera Belle. MY MAEBELLINE GIRL (3) made her long-awaited hurdling debut here nearly 3 weeks ago and ran her rivals into the ground, leading all the way to score by well over 7 lengths. That effort would have sparked her up for a return to flat racing, and she is capable of repeating the dose here. OUTER FOCUS (4) ran a belter fresh up for second at Waipukurau in late April, and then found the sticky track too much to cope with at Whanganui 8 days ago. The step from 1600m to 2200m is the key here, and he is worth another chance. CARIGNAN (10) made a good fist of things when finishing third at his jumping debut 11 days ago, and even though he has not won a race on the flat for a long time, he can still figure in the top 4 here. LAE ZEE (7) jumped cautiously when making her jumping debut here nearly 3 weeks ago after winning on the flat fresh up at Matamata before that. Don't risk her in this. GO BUTCH (11) resumes from a spell, and any horse from his astute stable must be monitored in the market. SUGGESTED PLAY: My Maebelline Girl can take this out.
