Without a recognised leader, Gold Earth and Strasbelle will likely set the pace. MAREMOTO (5) is on an eight-day back-up after relishing the extra ground to finish third over 1400m at Newcastle. Can race a touch closer here and expected to go close in this weaker contest. OCEAN PREDATOR (3) Ocean Park gelding from Sade on debut for the Waterhouse & Bott yard. Much better trial when he finished third over 1200m at Randwick. Expected to figure prominently. MAGIC MERLIN (2) fourth-up for this with the blinkers going on and due for a change of luck. Drifted back early and warmed up late with a respectable fourth over 1600m at Scone. Has a fitness edge over the bulk of these and can take a hand in the finish. STRASBELLE (6) presented at the right time fourth-up but failed to go on with it when a plugging third over 1400m at Tamworth. Will hold a forward position and has claims. TRAPEAZY (8) jumps out to the 1500m quickly third-up after she chipped away to finish fourth over 1200m at Tamworth. Stays in the mix. SUGGESTED PLAY: Maremoto and Ocean Predator shape as the two leading chances.
