Solid tempo anticipated with Ultimate Warrior leading the way. DEFENSEMEN (3) returned for his second prep with a slashing third over 1250m at Canterbury with the 58kg. Gets the right run for this with the 2kg weight drop and will take holding out over the extra ground. RUMDABAR (2) had no luck from the wide gate on debut, then backed off the map with an effortless Maiden win over 1300m at Newcastle. Looks to have further upside and shapes as the main danger third-up. WOODENBRIDGE (10) drifted back further than anticipated second-up and never looked comfortable in the heavy going with a disappointing last over 1250m at Randwick Kensington. Blinkers and lugging-bit go on and will appreciate the weight drop with Grima's claim. Can bounce back quickly. ULTIMATE WARRIOR (7) hunted out from the wide gate on debut with a tiring fourth over 1300m at Newcastle behind Rumdabar. Strips fitter and don't dismiss from the good gate. REBEL SHIELD (4) closed off well on debut when fourth to Omolong over 1100m at Warwick Farm. Should get the trip. SUGGESTED PLAY: Defensemen can get the upper hand from the inside marble.
