GOING: G(4)

MARABOON TAVERN Class 6 Plate 1000m

Track: GOOD 4     Rail: True. (Pent: 4.01)

Speed should be right on over the 1000m journey. GOLD ACADEMY (6) is proving himself to be a very exciting prospect and was less than a length from the winner when finishing second at a recent picnic meeting here just over 5 weeks ago. He slides down slightly in grade and will be the one to beat. READY TO TORQUE (7) was a handy performer further South last spring, and since moving to North Queensland this year, she has not missed a beat in a couple of starts, including a fresh up win on this track. Go again. COBBO (5) capped off some solid form with a deserved win at Thangool just over 3 weeks ago, scoring comfortably by more than 2 lengths. He won't find this much harder and can repeat the dose. AWOL (3) was put aside after just 1 start here in the spring and is resuming with the benefit of a 3kg claim. A good draw will help and if he can recapture the form he showed earlier in his career, then he won't be out of this. SUGGESTED PLAY: Gold Academy to win.
