Plenty of speed from Montero and Elegant Explosive. PURPLE PROSE (6) made the most of a well-judged ride to get up and score by nearly a length here 4 weeks ago over this trip when clearing his maiden status. That win was overdue, and now that the penny has dropped, he can go on with the job, despite a tough gate. RULE OF LAW (2) is a very consistent gelding who has not missed a cheque in 5 starts on this track, including a last start narrow defeat by a nose here last time out. Stick with him. ELEGANT EXPLOSIVE (8) did not let down as expected here nearly a fortnight ago as a very short-priced favourite over 1400m. She cops a wide draw, but will be suited by the extra furlong. Follow your money. MONTERO (5) capped off some solid form with a well-deserved maiden win here nearly a month ago. The step up to a mile will suit him, so go again. WANDERIN SPELLE (3) was well beaten by a smart type when finishing second here last start. He had the other runners well covered and looked good winning his maiden before that. Each way value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Purple Prose has more to offer. On top in an even contest.
