Genuine tempo with Chasing Warrior to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. CHASING WARRIOR (1) has been a lot more competitive this year and gave a good sight at Pukekohe 3 weeks ago when finishing third after setting the pace. He is the likely leader here as well, and with the aid of a 4kg claim, he can take this out. NOTABADBERGS (2) ran a much better race fresh up from a new stable when finishing runner-up at Ruakaka 18 days ago. He was less than a length from the winner that day, and with an extra furlong this time being ideal, he can go one better. FRACAS (3) was third in a 4-horse field on debut at Tauranga and will be better for the experience. He has the pole position here, and if it is the place to be, then he can continue to improve. AKIMOTO (7) got back too far from a wide draw at Tauranga second up 25 days ago and never got warm. She has a big swing in her gate this time, and is worth another chance. DES MOINES (6) is on debut with 3 trials under his belt. He is bred to love wet ground and should not be risked. Include in all combinations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Akimoto can bounce back into the money in this sort of field.
